political testimony

Africa is on fire , revolutions are escalating in the north and Cote D ' Ivore and Cameroon witnessed political crisises , Sudan is formally divided  and my country is witnessing unrest  as well , no need to say its name to keep my anonymity.
The events in my country were too rapid , I did not see all this coming . it was unprecedented change  in the political life . although I showed interest of the national politics as a graduate of political science school , but I participated in the latest events in a way I did not use to do before . I never attended strikes or demonstrations , I always felt I do not belong to the very passionate protesters and I had huge fears and the brutality of the police was my greatest fear. But the events pushed many young people to participate after years of apathy .
I remember my first day in the strike, I was afraid and very worried that the tense of the situation would trigger an episode , I tried to pretend that I am  normal , I felt I will burden on my friends and I will make a very public scene.
Ironically , it was OK , I survived the passion, anger , pain and the fear. Thanks to my good Doctor who prescribed me a SOS dose and the solidarity of my friends .
I will treasure this memory , because it showed that I am as weak as I imagined and that survival is not enough , I need to seek more satisfaction and achievement .
